CONVECS (COmuNità VEneta per il Calcolo Scientifico)
The CONVECS project (COmuNità VEneta per il Calcolo Scientifico) provides a high-performance computing infrastructure to support outstanding scientific research and promote the development of innovative technological applications.
The Project
CONVECS plays an essential role in strengthening and advancing the research activities carried out by universities and research centers in the Veneto region, both locally and at the European level. This computing infrastructure is capable of supporting highly computational research projects developed by the consortium’s research institutions, with the possible collaboration of local companies, thus promoting the digital transition of the regional production system.
The CONVECS infrastructure is equipped with heterogeneous computing nodes to meet the specific needs of different research groups and application areas. It is based on advanced technologies for big data management and parallel computing, which make it possible to integrate traditional multicore platforms with next-generation Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) in order to deliver high-performance large-scale computing.
