Scientific Impact

The CONVECS project also has important connections with the National Research Centre in High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing, specifically with Spoke 0 (Cloud Infrastructure for Supercomputing), Spoke 1 (Future HPC and Big Data), Spoke 2 (Fundamental Research and Space Economy), and Spoke 10 (Quantum Computing). The four spokes, which involve researchers from the University of Padua and INFN, aim to manage and coordinate the national infrastructure for HPC and Big Data systems and to identify new hardware and software technologies for scientific computing architectures.

The resources provided by CONVECS will also contribute to the scientific project of the Biocomputing Spoke of the National Centre for RNA and Gene Therapy, focused on molecular-level simulations and coordinated by the University of Padua, as well as to activities related to the national CINI HPC – Key Technologies and Tools laboratory, the National Biodiversity Future Center, and the MNESYS project coordinated by the University of Verona. They will also support activities connected to the SERICS Extended Partnership (Security and Rights in the CyberSpace) and the ITINERIS research infrastructure (Italian Integrated Environmental Research Infrastructures System), in which the University of Venice participates.

At the European level, the CONVECS project will help strengthen the Italian node of ELIXIR, the European infrastructure for biological data, through a regional hub of computational services.
