The CONVECS project is being launched in 2025 thanks to the collaboration between the main universities and research centers of the Veneto region, supported by funding from the Veneto Regional Authority. Its goal is to create a high-performance computing infrastructure that will have a concrete and measurable impact on scientific research, on the region, and on society. This will help position the Veneto Region as a center of excellence for research and innovation at the European level, promoting interdisciplinary collaborations and encouraging participation in transnational coordination and cooperation networks and initiatives.
The project provides a computing infrastructure that connects universities and major regional research centers, enabling uniform and scalable access to computational resources for researchers and for companies working in technological sectors. The CONVECS infrastructure also allows local companies to develop innovative projects in collaboration with universities, gaining advanced expertise to create new products in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) applications, industrial process virtualization (digital twin), smart manufacturing, smart agrifood, smart health, smart living & energy, and, more generally, to strengthen sectors related to Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
